BECKLEY, W.Va. – WVU Tech Overwatch continued its strong run through NECC Division VII Northeast B play Friday night, defeating Drexel University, 3-1, inside the Golden Bear Esports Lab. The victory marks the Golden Bears' fifth consecutive win.
WVU Tech improved to 5-0 on the season following earlier wins over Montclair State (3-0), Concord Esports (3-0), Purdue University (3-1) and Quinnipiac University (3-1).
The Golden Bears claimed three of the four maps in the best-of-five series against Drexel, taking victories on Lijiang Tower, Eichenwalde and Shambali Monastery.
WVU Tech received strong performances across the lineup throughout the match. Jacob Ferguson (Mezzlo) delivered one of the top offensive performances of the night, recording 28 eliminations and more than 21,500 damage during the Shambali Monastery map.
Trenton Windsor (Warpwo) also paced the Golden Bears offensively, finishing with 31 eliminations on Eichenwalde while adding over 11,000 damage in the map victory.
Support play proved critical for WVU Tech throughout the match. Parker Jarrell (Quiet Otter) led the healing effort with 16,157 healing on Shambali Monastery while contributing 17 eliminations and 26 assists. Brahm Kesterson (Brahm) helped orchestrate the team's coordination with 29 assists in the match.
Defensively, Keith Karwacki (TheWacki1) provided key protection for the Golden Bears, recording 25 eliminations and an impressive 25,474 damage mitigated on Shambali.
Logan Oliver (Goomba678) also contributed heavily in the support role, finishing with 19 assists and more than 10,500 healing during the Eichenwalde map.
The balanced effort helped WVU Tech control the pace of the match as the Golden Bears secured their third consecutive 3-1 victory.
WVU Tech will look to continue its winning streak on March 20 when the Golden Bears face the University of New Haven in the Golden Bear Esports Lab.
