Agee, Gutierrez named Golden Bear Athletes of the Week

April 13-19, 2026

The WVU Tech Athletic Department has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for April 13–19, 2026. This week’s honors go to Isaac Agee (track & field) and Alejandro Gutierrez (golf) following standout performances in collegiate competition.

Isaac Agee (Hines, W.Va.)
Agee delivered one of the top performances in the NAIA this season at the Jasmine Claggett Memorial, winning the 110-meter hurdles in a meet-record and school-record time of 14.36. The mark ranks No. 9 nationally in the NAIA this season and stands as a personal best for the freshman hurdler.

Agee also added a personal-best 11.33 in the 100 meters and helped WVU Tech’s 4x100-meter relay team place third with a season-best time of 43.67 alongside Carlos Parra Soto, Ralph Aaron Etaba Ateba and Chucky Jordan. The Golden Bears finished third as a team with 82 points in one of the program’s strongest outdoor meets of the season, highlighted by four event victories, four school records and multiple NAIA marks.

This marks the fifth time Agee has earned Golden Bear Athlete of the Week honors across the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons combined.

Alejandro Gutierrez (Anaco, Anzoátegui, Venezuela)
Gutierrez continued his strong spring season with back-to-back top finishes for the Golden Bears across two tournaments.

At the Kentucky Christian University Spring Invitational, the freshman tied for third out of 70 golfers with a two-round score of 150 (+6), climbing the leaderboard with an even-par 72 in the final round after opening with a 78. Gutierrez tied for the team lead with five birdies and was one of only six golfers in the field to record an eagle during the tournament.

He followed that performance with another strong finish at the IU Kokomo Spring Shootout, placing sixth overall with rounds of 77 and 75 for a two-round total of 152 (+10). Gutierrez helped lead WVU Tech to a fourth-place team finish as the Golden Bears closed the regular season with one of their strongest performances of the spring.

Across both tournaments, Gutierrez recorded two top-six finishes and helped WVU Tech build momentum heading into the River States Conference Championship.
