BECKLEY, W.Va. — Nine WVU Tech student-athletes have been selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Teams, recognizing outstanding achievement in both academics and athletics.
Representing the men's basketball program, Liam Craven and Cole Chapman earned recognition following strong seasons on the court while maintaining success in the classroom. Craven, a sport management major from Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and Chapman, a biology major from Beaver, West Virginia, were among the Golden Bears honored in the winter sports cycle.
On the women's basketball side, Cadence Stewart, Avery Lucas and Alexis Sexton were selected to the Academic All-District® Team. Stewart, a biology major from Ronceverte, West Virginia, Lucas, a biology major from Hamlin, West Virginia, and Sexton, a civil engineering major from Lexington, South Carolina, each earned recognition for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.
The men's swimming program saw three student-athletes honored with Academic All-District® recognition. Carmine Bernardo, an aerospace engineering major from Salerno, Italy, Bryson George, a civil engineering major from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Oleguer Siscart Muntané, an electrical engineering major from Barcelona, Spain, were all selected following another strong season in the pool.
Nora Martin-Mora Segura represented the women's swimming program on the Academic All-District® Team. The senior civil engineering major from Barcelona, Spain, was recognized for her work in both competition and the classroom.
To be eligible for Academic All-District® consideration, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least sophomores academically and athletically and meet sport-specific participation requirements.
The Academic All-District® program, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletics and academics. Honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, with Academic All-America® teams announced later this academic year.
WVU Tech congratulates all nine Golden Bears for continuing to represent the university at a high level both academically and athletically.
