BLUEFIELD, Va. — WVU Tech volleyball battled Bluefield University through a tight opening set Tuesday before the Rams earned a 3-0 decision at The Dome.
The Golden Bears (0-6) stayed within striking distance throughout the first before Bluefield edged out a 25-23 decision. The Rams took the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-17.
Aniston Treadway and Maura O'Niell paced the Golden Bear attack with seven kills apiece. Treadway hit .286 with just one error on 21 swings, while Ashlinn Sullivan also hit .286 with two kills on seven attempts.
Gabriela Lattu added four kills and two block assists, while Eden Miller also finished with two block assists.
Defensively, Ivana Burgos led Tech with 13 digs and Anaís González added nine. Addison White handed out 10 assists with six digs and a service ace.
As a team, the Golden Bears finished with 23 kills, 19 assists, 41 digs and just 12 attack errors while hitting .117, their second-highest hitting percentage through the first six matches of the season.

WVU Tech returns to Van Meter Gym Saturday, Aug. 29, for the Gold & Blue Scrimmage. The Golden Bears then host Carolina University at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1.
