MILLIGAN, Tenn. — No. 2 WVU Tech men's soccer earned its first shutout of the season Friday evening, battling (RV) Milligan University to a 0-0 draw on the road.
Senior goalkeeper Ramon Ferrari made six saves over 90 minutes as the Golden Bears moved to 0-0-2 through their first two matches of the 2026 season.
Milligan created the first opportunity on goal in the seventh minute, but Ferrari turned away Marco Lattanzi's attempt. Derren Sanchez answered with Tech's first shot just over a minute later, sending an effort high.
The Golden Bears generated another chance in the 34th minute when Gonzalo Sabeh had a shot blocked. Ferrari kept the match scoreless just before halftime, stopping Trotter Jones in the 45th minute as the teams went into the break tied 0-0.
Tech became more dangerous after halftime, taking six of its eight shots and earning all four of its corner kicks over the final 45 minutes.
Joost Hermeling had an attempt blocked in the 51st minute before Sanchez sent another shot high in the 61st. Luismi Ayuso followed with a header that went wide in the 75th minute.
The Golden Bears put together their best stretch of pressure late. Francisco Mustra forced Milligan goalkeeper Sergi Cruz into a save in the 76th minute, then Iñaki Sacramento put another effort on goal in the 85th. Tech earned corner kicks following both opportunities.
Ferrari and the Tech defense answered at the other end. The senior made three saves over the final four minutes, including back-to-back stops in the 87th minute, to preserve the shutout. Wilfredo Briceño produced one final chance for the Golden Bears in the 90th minute, sending a header wide.
WVU Tech finished with eight shots, including six in the second half, and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Mustra and Sacramento accounted for Tech's two shots on goal. Ferrari's six saves gave him 11 through the first two matches of the season.
Through two matches, the Golden Bears have allowed just one goal while recording a 0.50 goals-against average. Ferrari has collected 11 saves in 180 minutes with a .917 save percentage.

WVU Tech continues its road swing Wednesday, Sept. 2, when the Golden Bears visit Tennessee Wesleyan University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Athens, Tennessee.
