BECKLEY, W.Va. — WVU Tech Athletics has announced its Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Sept. 7-13, recognizing freshman Shiloh Goodwin of soccer and junior Evan McElwayne of cross country for standout performances during the week.

Goodwin scored in both of WVU Tech's matches during a 2-0 week, finishing with two goals and four points as the Golden Bears earned home victories over Carolina and Mount Vernon Nazarene.
The freshman scored the game-winning goal in Tech's 1-0 shutout of Carolina before finding the net again in a 2-1 victory over Mount Vernon Nazarene. Goodwin finished the week with six shots, including three on goal.
Goodwin is a freshman majoring in business management.

McElwayne led WVU Tech at the Bethany Invitational, finishing second overall in the 8K with a time of 29:07.3.
The junior was the Golden Bears' top finisher in the 66-runner field and helped WVU Tech place fourth among nine scoring teams with 97 points. His runner-up finish marked the best individual result by a Golden Bear through the first two meets of the season.
McElwayne is a junior majoring in chemical engineering.
