Brad Davis, who joined WVU Tech in 2022–23, serves as head coach of the Golden Bear esports program. A native of South Charleston, West Virginia, Davis graduated from West Virginia University in 2009 with a degree in journalism.
Since taking over the program, Davis has guided WVU Tech to national recognition, highlighted by the 2024 NECC Navigators Division National Championship in Rainbow Six Siege — the first national title in the program’s history. He has also overseen the growth of multiple titles including Rocket League, Overwatch, League of Legends, Fortnite, Super Smash Bros. and Apex Legends, helping establish WVU Tech as a consistent competitor on the collegiate esports stage.
Before his time in coaching, Davis built a career in news and sports photography. He contributed to the Daily Athenaeum, the Charleston Daily Mail and the Beckley Register-Herald, where he worked from 2013 to 2020.
A lifelong gamer, Davis grew up on Nintendo and PlayStation systems. He now spends much of his personal gaming time in Fallout 76, War Thunder and Gran Turismo.
He lives in Beckley with his wife, Becky Brouse Davis, and their cats, Cudi and Arya.
