Alejandro joins the WVU Tech men’s soccer coaching staff with four years of collegiate coaching experience, including stops at Iowa Lakes Community College and Concord University.
He served as an assistant coach at both programs, gaining extensive experience recruiting student-athletes domestically and internationally while helping each program achieve postseason success.
At Iowa Lakes, he helped guide the Lakers to an NJCAA Division II conference championship and a run to the national tournament semifinals. The staff was also recognized with Coaching Staff of the Year honors.
He later joined the staff at NCAA Division II Concord, where the Mountain Lions advanced to the conference championship match and reached No. 10 in the national rankings, the highest ranking in program history.
Before beginning his coaching career, he competed at the highest youth level in his native Colombia in the Torneo Nacional Sub-20 FCF before continuing his playing career in the United States. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College, Heartland Community College and Multnomah University.
While at Heartland, he helped the program advance to the NJCAA national championship match. He later earned a full scholarship to continue his career at Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon. He played primarily as a left back and center back.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Multnomah and later completed a master’s degree in health promotion at Concord University. He has also earned coaching certifications through the FC Barcelona Academy and Global Futbol Institute.
His move to WVU Tech also reunites him with Golden Bears head coach Nick Semnani. The two previously worked together at Iowa Lakes during the spring of 2024.
The opportunity to reunite with Semnani and join one of the nation’s top NAIA programs made WVU Tech an attractive next step in his coaching career.
Originally from Colombia, he brings an international playing background, recruiting experience and a history of contributing to successful programs to the Golden Bears.
