Shinya Turley

    Associate Head Coach
Shinya Turley returns for his fifth year as part of the staff of the WVU Tech men’s soccer program. 

He spent the first two years as the Assistant coach and was promoted in 2014 to his current position as the Associate Head Coach. Shinya has helped coach the Golden Bears to five successful seasons going 70-5-5 and being a part of the 2014 & 2013 USCAA National Championship team.  

During his time at Tech, Shinya has helped the Golden Bears reach 4 National Tournaments. Three USCAA National Tournaments (2012, 2013, 2014), reaching the championship game all three years and winning the last two years and most recently the NAIA National Tournament (2015).

Prior to WVU Tech Shinya spent one year coaching at his alma mater as an assistant for the men’s program at NCAA Division II institution Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia.

He also spent two years as the assistant women’s coach for Cabell Midland High School in Ona, WV. 

He is on the coaching staff for West Virginia FC as well as the West Virginia ODP. 

As a student-athlete, Shinya was a four year starter at Alderson-Broaddus College. He was part of the winning team that won the WVIAC Championship in 2009. 

During his time as a Battler, Shinya won numerous awards including the most recent award in 2015 when he was named a part of the Men’s Soccer All-50 Team which honored the program’s best players in the 50 years of existence. 

After playing collegiately, Shinya played two seasons for the Professional Development League (PDL) team West Virginia Chaos located in Charleston, West Virginia. 

Shinya currently holds the USSF “B” National Coaching License.
