Kyleigh Jackson serves as head coach of the WVU Tech softball program after having the interim designation removed following the 2026 season.
Jackson stepped into the interim head coaching role shortly before the start of the 2026 campaign and guided the Golden Bears to a 9-31 overall record and 7-29 mark in River States Conference play. Tech improved from six overall victories in 2025 to nine in Jackson's first season while raising its overall winning percentage from .136 to .225.
The Golden Bears earned wins over Bluefield University, Defiance College, IU Columbus, Oakland City, Brescia, Shawnee State, Midway and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods during the 2026 season. Jackson earned her first collegiate head coaching victory on opening day when Tech defeated Bluefield 14-13 on Feb. 20.
Under Jackson, WVU Tech finished the season with 269 hits and 84 stolen bases. Hailea Skeens led the Golden Bears with a .441 batting average and 56 hits, while Olivia Barnett recorded a team-high 22 RBIs.
Jackson has also worked to establish continuity within the program while building the roster for the future. Nine players from the 2026 team returned to the 2027 roster alongside a group of eight newcomers.
A former Golden Bear student-athlete, Jackson played four seasons for WVU Tech from 2021-24 as an infielder and outfielder. She was also a member of the WVU Tech cheerleading program during her time as a student.
Jackson came to WVU Tech from Midland Trail High School in Hico, West Virginia, where she was a multi-sport athlete in softball, basketball and cheerleading. She earned All-Coalfield Conference honors in softball in 2019.
Her high school career also included All-Coalfield Conference honors in basketball in 2019 and 2020. Jackson was part of Midland Trail's 2019 regional championship basketball team and competed in the state tournament. In cheerleading, she helped Midland Trail capture regional championships in 2018 and 2019 and finish as the state runner-up in 2019.
Jackson graduated from Midland Trail in 2020 before beginning her collegiate career at WVU Tech. She studied criminal justice during her time with the Golden Bears.
