We are catching up on Golden Bear Athletes of the Week and those for March 14-20, 2022 were announced Monday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Freshman Juan David Martinez Hernandez (golf) and sophomore John Nicely (track and field) highlight that week's honors.

A native of Bogotá, Columbia, Martinez Hernandez finished tied for 24th in a field of 55 golfers after shooting a combined score of 154 during the Pioneer Classic. He posted a 75 on day one followed by a 79 the final day.

Nicely, who hails from Williamstown, West Virginia, competed in the CIU Rams Invitational March 18. The sophomore finished fourth overall in the 5,000m Racewalk and crossed with a time of 32:16.68 for the Gold and Blue.
