A pair of standout conference performances earned Joost Hermeling of men's soccer and Julia Silva of women's soccer recognition as WVU Tech's Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Oct. 5-11.

Silva played a major role in a 2-0 conference week for the Golden Bears, totaling three goals, two assists and eight points.

The junior recorded a goal and two assists in WVU Tech's 5-1 win at Kentucky Christian before scoring twice in a 6-0 victory over St. Mary-Woods. Her first goal against the Pomeroys came just 57 seconds into the match and stood as the game winner. Silva finished the week with 10 shots, including five on goal.

Silva is a junior from Halton Hills, Ontario, Canada.
