Golden Bear Athletes of the Week for Oct. 2-8, 2023 were announced Tuesday by the WVU Tech Athletic Department. Juniors Goemon (Elijah Brown, esports) and Santiago Zambrano (golf) highlight the week's honors.

Goemon (Colcord, W.Va.) was credited to one of the greatest performances in WVU Tech esports history after the junior chipped away at Emory & Henry's stock count, and at 189% damage he finished off the Wasps to complete an epic five-stock sweep and snatch a 2-1 match victory in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Zambrano (Bogotá, D.C., Colombia) recorded the Gold and Blue's lowest score over two days during the River States Conference (RSC) Fall Preview with a 151 (+7). The junior finished T6th out of 66 golfers with scores of 78 (+6) and 73 (+1). As a team, Tech finished third out of 11 teams.
