Junior Denis Robles-Gomez has been named a Golden Bear Star Performer of the Week for January 6-12, 2016.

Robles-Gomez finished fourth at 125 to lead WVU Tech wrestling to an eighth place finish at the John Crytzer Invitational hosted by Washington and Lee University Saturday.

The junior opened the tournament with a bye before falling to Lenny Ogozalek of Gettysburg by technical fall. At 125, he went on to win his next two bouts by fall (6:03 and 0:53) prior to scoring a major decision (15-7) over Scranton's Brandon Davis. In the third place match, Robles-Gomez fell to Ogozalek again by fall (4:53).

The Golden Bears return to action January 16 when they travel to Newport News, Virginia for the Builder Invitational.
