Freshman Sergio Sanchez has been named a Golden Bear Athlete of the Week for September 1-7, 2016.

Sanchez had the game-winning goal in WVU Tech's 2-1 victory over Keiser University for his first collegiate score. The Getafe, Madrid, Spain native also posted an assist in Tech's 5-0 shutout win over Bluefield College.

The son of Miguel Sanchez and Cristina Plaza earned USCAA Player of the Week accolades as announced by the league Tuesday for his efforts.
