Sophomore Leland Swafford has been named a Golden Bear Athlete of the Week for December 1-5, 2017.

Tech had two Golden Bears place at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational including a team-best fifth place finish from Swafford during the two-day competition.

Swafford captured three falls towards his finish at 157 lbs. including a pin at 0:56 over Gettysburg's Noah Struss to kick off the invitational. The Beckley, West Virginia native defeated Ursinus' Jacob Folk by decision (7-6) in the fifth place match.
