Sophomore Conrad Lacey has been named the Golden Bear Star Performer for January 16 through 22.
 
Lacey dominated the 157 lb. class at the Washington and Lee University Invitational in Lexington, Virginia this past weekend. 
 
En route to his tournament championship, Lacey completed a bracket sweep executing two pins and one decision versus his opponents.  In the first round, Lacey pinned W&L’s Josh Weldon with 1:54 remaining.  He carried his momentum in his second match pinning Truett McConnell College’s Nick Distasio with :05 remaining.  The Golden Bear continued his charge in the final defeating teammate Chance Smith in a 6-5 decision. 
 
Lacey qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa with his championship performance.
 
Lacey is a mechanical engineering major from Anchorage, Alaska.
