MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The weekend is full of WVU Tech athletics and the winter season will begin, it features a home volleyball match Friday evening, the beginning of the swim season and men's soccer will travel to Asbury College for a tough game on the pitch.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 3 Women's Soccer at Montreat College - 2:00 p.m.The Golden Bears are coming off a tough loss against the University of Rio Grande, 1-0, last Saturday. The team is now 1-4-2 while Montreat holds a record of 3-6.
Freshman
Ruby Bingham still leads the team with two goals while seniors
Creshana Jones and
Sierrah Soto have netted a goal each. Jones has also marked an assist and freshmen
Tristen Kilman and
Angelica Arellano each have an assist.
Volleyball vs. University of Charleton-Beckley - 7:00 p.m.Tech boosted their record with a 3-1 win over West Virginia University Parkersburg Wednesday evening. The Golden Bears are now 3-15 and are hoping to grab two wins in a row with another victory over UC-Beckley.
The team took three sets over Beckley on Sept. 19, 26-24, 25-8 and 25-13. Senior
Haley Pauley led the Golden Bears with 12 kills and junior
Chelsea Dean led the defense with 30 digs in the victory.
SATURDAY - OCTOBER 4 Cross Country at Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic - 9:30 a.m. (men's), 10:15 a.m. (women's)After two weeks off, the cross country squads will be traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina to participate in the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic.
Men's cross country team finished in fourth place in their last meet, the 2014 Maroon Invitational at Mowles Spring Park, Sept. 20. The Golden Bears were led by senior
Zack White, who placed 13
th with a time of 30:07.
Leading the way for the women was sophomore
Cheyenne Davis, who finished the 5K course with a time of 27:29 placing 37
th. Davis bettered her time from her prior outing at the Shawnee State Fall Invitational (Sept. 12) by 1:25.
Volleyball vs. Virginia Union University - 12:00 p.m.The Golden Bears will not take a day off after facing UC-Beckley Friday evening and will head to Salem, West Virginia for a tri-match hosted by Salem International University.
Tech will first face a 7-7 team in the Virginia Union Panthers then will play the host school at 3:00 p.m. Live stats and video will be provided by Salem International, links can be found at

Women's Soccer at Warren Wilson College - 1:00 p.m.The squad will play two games in as many days when they take on the Owls of Warren Wilson College in Warren, Virginia Saturday afternoon. The Owls hold a record of 3-4 in 2014.

Martha Reyna (1-4-2) has 38 saves in her career so far, allowing 13 goals in 573:24 minutes of play.
Swimming at Alderson Broaddus University - 1:00 p.m.Men's and women's swimming will begin their season at Alderson Broaddus University Saturday with a head-to-head match-up in Philippi, West Virginia.

Volleyball vs. Salem International University - 3:00 p.m.Salem International is 3-4 this season and the Golden Bears will be playing their third match in two days to finish out the tri-match and their weekend against the host school.

Michala Dean is leading Tech in assists with 242 (5.04/set) while junior
Jacque Carroll follows with 100 assists in 48 sets played.
Men's Soccer at Asbury College - 7:00 p.m.The Golden Bears will look to extend their winning streak to two with a victory over Asbury College Saturday evening. Kickoff set for 7:00 p.m. will be held in Wilmore, Kentucky.
Freshman
Alex Pastor achieved a hat trick in Tech's last match-up against Laurel University Wednesday with three goals, extending his total to five in his first collegiate year. Senior
Glenroy Miller and freshman
Sven Biansumba lead the team with six goals each. Miller also leads with five assists while Pastor has dished four himself.
