TAKOMA PARK, Maryland - WVU Tech men's soccer moved to 9-1-1 in 2014 with their fourth consecutive win Wednesday afternoon in Takoma Park, Maryland. The Golden Bears defeated Washington Adventist University (5-5-1), the second time in as many days, 5-1.
Less than ten minutes into the match, freshman
Alex Pastor sent a ball to the left wing where it found sophomore
Prince Idornigie's head and eventually the back of the net. The goal by Idornigie was his first of the season while Pastor marked his sixth assist of the year.
Pastor scored another three goals to give himself the hat trick of hat tricks, marking his third in as many games, beginning the process in the 15
th minute off an assist from freshman
Joao Gigli. Before the end of the half, the Shock retaliated with a goal in the 42
nd minute to take the score to 2-1.
In the 50
th minute of the game, Pastor scored his second goal off a made penalty kick. Gigli netted Tech's third score of the game, unasssited, for his third goal of the season. Pastor also netted a goal in the 77
th minute, set up by freshman
Pepe Segarra.
Goalkeepers sophomore
Hunter Moles (6-1-1), who was given the win, and freshman Pol Bernaoldo both saw action in the net. Moles, drawing the start, picked up his sixth win of the season while making two saves. Bernaldo saw 24:48 minutes of play while defending the net.
For the game, Tech got off 31 shots (15 shots on goal) while the Shock managed three shots, with three being on goal.
Next up for the Golden Bears will be a home match-up against Virginia Western Community College in Beckley, West Virginia. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Paul Cline Memorial Complex.
