MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The WVU Tech men's basketball team stay undefeated in 2014, 6-0, with a win in the Neal D. Baisi Classic Friday evening. The Golden Bears grabbed the victory over Barber Scotia College, 116-61.
Tech had 11 scorers during the match-up including four Golden Bears in double-digits. The duo of seniors
Sharife Sergeant and
Jauries Thomas led the way again with double-doubles. Sergeant marked 23 points and 10 boards, shooting 6-for-8 from the foul line. Thomas finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds, going 10-for-12 from the field.
Senior guard
Leon Cooper, Jr. recorded 12 points and redshirt freshman forward
Nick Light had 11 points to round out the top contributors for the Golden Bears. Cooper and sophomore guard
Ra'Shaud Kincaid dished a game-high six assists each.
Freshman guard
Juwuan Wilson was one point shy of his own double-double, producing 10 rebounds and nine points in 18 minutes of play. Light ended the game with seven boards.
As a team, the Golden Bears shot 53.8 percent (43-for-80) from the field and 65.5 percent (19-for-29) from the free throw line.
The Gold and Blue will finish out the Baisi Classic Saturday evening against Washington Adventist University. Action is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
