CHARLESTON, West Virginia - The No. 8 seed WVU Tech women's soccer team defeated No. 9 Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse Wednesday afternoon at the 2014 USCAA Soccer National Championships. The match-up at Friends of Coal Trace Fork Soccer Complex ended after 90 minutes with a score of 2-0.

Alyssa Capon struck first for Tech in the 13th minute for her first goal of 2014. Neither team was able to convert on shots for the next 58 minutes until senior
Sierrah Soto swooped in to score. Soto knocked the ball past Bryant & Stratton's goalkeeper Megan Hagadorn in an unassisted goal at 70:49. The senior took the score to it's final, 2-0.
Defense for the Golden Bears held their opponent to just four shots, two on goal. As a team, Tech took 15 shots and held the advantage on corner kicks, 4-1.

Martha Reyna earned the shutout with two saves and no goals allowed.
The Golden Bears will face the No. 1 seed, University of Maine at Fort Kent Thursday at Schoenbaum Soccer Complex (Coonskin Park). Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. Following the women's game, the men's team will play their first game of the tournament as the No. 2 seed vs. No. 7 University of Maine at Machias, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
