BOSTON, Massachusetts - The WVU Tech men's basketball team improved to 15-5 with a 77-63 win over Fisher College (14-4) Saturday afternoon for a two-game sweep at the Fisher College Classic. The Golden Bears defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent Friday evening, 77-64.
Tech featured a balanced scoring attack that saw four players record double-digits with senior
Leon Cooper, Jr. leading the way with 17 points. The double-digit scoring effort was Cooper's 17
th of the season.
Senior
Sharife Sergeant registered a double-double, his seventh this season, with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior
Jaren Marino and sophomore
Ra'Shaud Kincaid each posted 12 points and three rebounds. Kincaid recorded a team-high five assists while grabbing a steal and blocking one Fisher ball.
Senior
Jauries Thomas pulled down ten boards while contributing on offense with eight points and two assists. Thomas ranks No. 1 in offensive rebounds per game (5.421) and total offensive rebounds (220) in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I.
The team is currently ranked No. 1 in the same categories for the NAIA with 17.5 offensive rebounds per game and 882 total offensive rebounds.
The Gold and Blue shot 46.2 percent (24-for-52) from the field, 45.5 percent (10-for-22) from three-point range and 86.4 percent (19-for-22) from the foul line.
Tyler Shular paced Fisher with 17 points.
The Golden Bears will next host Virginia University of Lynchburg Saturday, January 24 in the Baisi Athletic Center, 4:00 p.m. The Alumni Game will be held the same day, scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
