Women's Soccer Tops No. 1 Asbury in KIAC Semifinal

WILMORE, Kentucky — WVU Tech women's soccer defeated the No. 1 seeded Asbury University 1-0 Thursday evening to earn a spot in the final of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Championships.

Junior Alexendra Klein found the back of the net in the 20th minute off an assist from fellow classmate Alex Blumer to give the No. 4 seed Golden Bears the 1-0 score and eventual semifinal victory.

After 90 minutes of play, the Eagles had advantage over Tech in corner kicks (5-3) while Tech had the edge in shots (12-10).

Sophomore goalkeeper Martha Reyna recorded the win, stopping four balls.

WVU Tech will face No. 2 Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 14 for the conference title.

The Golden Bears defeated the Pioneers earlier this season (November 3) in Pittsburgh, 1-0 off the goal of freshman Caitlin Foster.
