RIO GRANDE, Ohio — The WVU Tech men's soccer team fell to No. 1 University of Rio Grande in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Final Saturday evening, 3-1.
The Golden Bears, who entered the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed, have a record of 16-2 this season.
Rio scored all three goals before sophomore
Francisco Neto found the back of the net off a penalty kick in the 84
th minute.
Neto led the team with six shots (two on goal) while senior
Sam Laughton had two shots (one on goal).
The team currently holds six top-five rankings in NAIA DI play including No. 1 in shots on goal per game (14.38), No. 2 in shots per game (24.5) and goals per game (4.56), No. 3 in assists per game (3.69), No. 4 in total assists (59) and No. 5 in total goals (73).
