Strong Second Half Propels Tech by Point Park, 71-69

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — Facing an early second half deficit of double-digits, the WVU Tech men's basketball team rallied to defeat Point Park University 71-69 Wednesday night at the Baisi Athletic Center in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) action. The Golden Bears are now 3-3, 0-1 (KIAC) while the Pioneers hold a record of 4-3, 0-1 (KIAC) this season.

The Golden Bears' first KIAC victory in program history came off scoring help from sophomore Ryan Atkins who led the game with 28 points and junior Paul Stone who posted 18 points. The duo pulled down seven rebounds each while Atkins dished five assists and Stone three.

Junior Ra'Shaud Kincaid made his 2015-16 debut dropping eight points to go with five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Junior Patrick Gnagbo had a game-high 11 rebounds including five offensive while posting six points.

The team was held to 39.1 percent (27-for-69) shooting from the field while their opponent was held to 40 percent (26-for-65) shooting.

The team will return to play when they travel to Beckley, West Virginia Saturday to face Bluefield State College for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
