Men's Basketball

KINGSPORT, Tennessee — The WVU Tech men's basketball team is riding a four-game win streak and are 6-3 this season after defeating two ranked teams in the NAIA DII Showcase this weekend in the Meadowview Conference Resort and Convention Center. The Golden Bears took game one 61-60 over No. 16 St. Thomas University before grabbing an 83-65 victory versus No. 23 Southeastern University.

Tech featured a balanced scoring attack that saw four players record double-digits in at least one of the contests including juniors Ra'Shaud Kincaid and Paul Stone who had double-figure efforts in both match-ups.

Stone combined for 30 points while registering a double-double Saturday against St. Thomas of 11 rebounds and ten points and blocking three Southeastern balls on Sunday. Kincaid totaled 27 points and eight rebounds while dishing seven assists and grabbing three steals during the showcase.

Sophomore Ryan Atkins had a game-high 27 points in Tech's victory over Southeastern while also producing four rebounds, assists and steals. Senior Eddie Gordon had 20 points in two games while pulling down nine boards and dishing five assists.

Juniors Patrick Gnagbo and Matthew Kallead made a difference for Tech under the boards during the weekend, pulling down ten and nine rebounds respectively.

The Gold and Blue held their opponent to 36.7 percent (22-for-60) shooting in game one before they upset an undefeated Southeastern who was averaging 103 points per game prior to Sunday.
