FLORENCE, Kentucky — Sophomore
Nikki Aleshire of WVU Tech women's cross country was named the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Newcomer of the Year while senior
Raul Martin of men's soccer earned Comeback Player of the Year and junior
Shelby Swiney of women's soccer is Defensive Player of the Year.
Ten Golden Bears were honored with all-team accolades at the completion of their 2015 fall seasons. The teams were determined through balloting of the conference's head coaches for soccer and selected based on the final results of the championship meet for cross country.
Men's soccer landed four players on the first team in sophomore
Francisco Neto, sophomore midfielder
Jose Segarra, senior forward
Sam Laughton and junior goalkeeper
Hunter Moles. The second team was represented by Tech with defenders Martin and junior
Drew Lytton.
Sophomore forward
Tristen Kilman, Swiney and sophomore midfielder
Ruby Bingham earned first team honors in women's soccer.
Aleshire finished third overall at the KIAC Championships November 7 with a time of 19:22 to earn first team accolades in women's cross country.
The members of the KIAC Champions of Character Team were chosen as one representative from each team who upholds the five character values of the NAIA's Champions of Character program of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
