Adkins Scores Career-High 30, Tech Falls to IU East

RICHMOND, Indiana — Senior guard LaKisha Adkins recorded a career-high 30 points and dished a team-high five assists in the WVU Tech women's basketball team's 108-83 loss to KIAC foe Indiana University East Tuesday night.

The loss drops Tech's record to 4-6, 0-2 (KIAC) while the Red Wolves improve to 5-3, 2-0 (KIAC) with the win.

Adkins shot 14-for-18 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the foul line. The Huntington, West Virginia native tied her career-best with five three-pointers, shooting an efficient 83.3 percent from that range.

Senior forward Courtney Fisher added 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds towards her third double-double effort of the season. Freshman guard Savannah Shamblin rounded out Tech's top offensive contributors with ten points while also pulling down five rebounds.

The duo of junior guard Elizabeth Evans and freshman forward Alexandra Combs scored seven points each while sophomore center Brett Justice and freshman forward Breanna Propst had five a piece. Propst pulled down six rebounds while Justice had five rebounds.

As a team, the Gold and Blue had its best shooting day of the season, finishing with a field goal percentage of 47.7 percent (31-for-65) as a unit to top their opponent's 46.8 percent (37-for-79). The Golden Bears trailed IU East in rebounding (45-37), assists (25-14) and steals (14-6). The Red Wolves forced 26 Tech turnovers while they committed just 15 during game play.

Tia King scored a game-high 36 points to pace the Red Wolves.

WVU Tech is now slated to play The University of Virginia's College at Wise Saturday, December 12 starting at 2 p.m. in Wise, Virginia.
