PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - WVU Tech men's basketball overcame an eight-point second half deficit before settling for the 71-67 victory over Shawnee State University Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears are now 17-7 on the season while Shawnee drops to 9-13.
Sophomore
Ra'Shaud Kincaid went 4-for-5 from the three-point line, recording 12 points to help lead Tech to victory. Kincaid dished four assists while pulling down four boards and stealing two Bears' balls.
Senior
Leon Cooper, Jr. also produced 12 points for Tech and had five rebounds. Rounding out the top offensive contributors for the Gold and Blue were senior
Sharife Sergeant (11 points), freshman
Juwuan Wilson (11 points) and senior
Jauries Thomas (10 points).
Thomas had a double-double effort with a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior
Jaren Marino finished with eight of each, points and rebounds.
The team finished the first half down by two points, 38-36, to come back in the second half and hold their opponent to just 29 points while producing 35 of their own for the victory.
Tech will look for another win when they travel to Washington Adventist University Wednesday, February 11, tip off is set for 7:00 p.m.
