SMITHERS, West Virginia - The WVU Tech softball team secured a doubleheader split versus Shawnee State University Wednesday afternoon at Terry E. Willis Field in Smithers, West Virginia by downing the Bears 11-2 (six innings) in game one before dropping the final contest, 8-6.
The Golden Bears' record now stands at 4-8 while the Bears move to 4-2 this season.
Game One | WVU Tech 11, Shawnee State 2 (Six Innings)Senior
Kat Lively had a standout game for the Golden Bears, recording three RBIs on three hits, including a walk-off two-run home run, her second of the game, in the bottom of the sixth to give Tech the victory.
Fresman
Kayla Harbin recorded four RBIs on three hits while freshman
Kayla Jones and sophomore
Mackenzie Wilson had two hits a piece.
Wilson (4-1) pitched a complete game for the win, striking out four Bears while scattering two earned runs and six hits.
Game Two | WVU Tech 6, Shawnee State 8 Junior
Megan Blythe and Harbin produced two hits each for the Golden Bears in the nightcap loss.
Junior
Genna Trippett (0-2) drew the start in the circle for the loss, giving up five earned runs on five hits while striking out four Bears.
Tech will travel to Clermont, Florida to participate in the PFX Games, March 22-27 at the Legends Way Ball Fields.
