LAWRENCEVILLE, Georgia - The WVU Tech baseball team dropped a three-game series to No. 5 (NAIA DI) Georgia Gwinnett College this past weekend, 2-1. The Golden Bears defeated the Grizzlies in game one, 7-4 before falling 5-4 (10 innings) and 12-0.
Tech improves to 22-18 and the Grizzlies boast a 37-8 record this season.

Austin Lucas and junior
Josh Hudson recorded two RBI each in Tech's win over the Grizzlies. Lucas hit a home run in the top of the sixth, his second of the season. Hudson was 2-for-3, both doubles, at the plate also scoring three runs for the Golden Bears.
Sophomore
Austin Southcott (5-0) scattered eight hits in 5.0 innings of work with nine strikeouts and three earned runs to stay undefeated this season. Senior
Josh Smetana (1-4-1) marked the save after two innings on the mound, giving up just one hit while striking out three Grizzlies.

Trevor Lam finished with two RBI on one hit, also recording a stolen base.
Senior
Craig Johnson (2-3) gave up four hits and one earned run for the loss, striking out eight opponents. Junior
Kyle Sager drew the start on the mound for Tech, scattering eight hits and four earned runs.
GAME 3 | WVU Tech 0, Georgia Gwinnett 12 (Box Score)In the series finale, the Gold and Blue managed six hits with Lucas recording two of them. Diaz knocked a double for the Golden Bears in the shutout loss.
Sophomore
Jayson Sykora (2-5) pitched 1.2 innings for the loss, allowing four hits and five earned runs.
WVU Tech will return to the field, weather pending, to face Morehead State College in Kentucky today, Tuesday with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Hudson will start on the mound for the Golden Bears.
