EAST BANK, West Virginia - The Golden Bears finished with nine hits and sophomore
Hunter Greco (1-1) earned his first win this season on the mound as WVU Tech baseball defeated Ohio Valley University Monday afternoon, 7-4.
Tech had a 1-6 start in 2015 and have gone 19-9 since, winning ten of their last 14 games, the team improves to 20-15 while the Fighting Scots fall to 4-16.
Seven Tech players finished with a hit including junior
Dylan Harvey and sophomore
Trevor Lam posting two hits a piece. Juniors
Carlos Diaz and
Doug Prather registered sacrifice hits for the Golden Bears, marking two RBI each.
Six stolen bases went to Tech, juniors
Hugo Rodriguez (1),
Xavier Barriere (1),
Tommy Weaver (2), Harvey (1) and Diaz (1).
Greco put in 3.2 innings of work, striking out four Fighting Scots for the win.
Tech will host Shawnee State University for doubleheader action Wednesday, first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in East Bank, West Virginia.
