WVU Tech Suffers Conference Loss to Ohio Christian

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — The WVU Tech men's basketball team dropped a 99-73 decision to Ohio Christian University in conference action Saturday afternoon at the Baisi Athletic Center. The Golden Bears are now 13-9, 5-4 (KIAC) this season while the Trailblazers improve to 16-6, 6-2 (KIAC).

Tech defeated Ohio Christian earlier this season in double-overtime, 96-91 when they traveled to Circleville, Ohio January 16. The Gold and Blue are now ranked No. 4 in the Colonial Division of the KIAC while the Trailblazers hold the No. 2 spot.

The team was paced by three players in double figures with sophomore Ryan Atkins leading the way with 21 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Senior Eddie Gordon and junior Patrick Gnagbo posted 13 points each while Gnagbo pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

Freshman Brandon Hamilton had a solid game in just 12 minutes of play, producing eight points, two rebounds and an assist.

The Trailblazers won the rebounding game, pulling down 34 boards compared to Tech's 20. Ohio Christian was able to put up 57 points from three's, shooting 19-for-29 (65.5 percent) from beyond the arc. Tech shot 27-for-48 (56.3 percent) from the field, 7-for-12 (58.3 percent) from three-point range and 12-for-24 (50.0 percent) from the foul line.

Ohio Christian's Marquis Jackson led all scorers with 23 points.

The Gold and Blue will play host to Carlow University Sunday in the Baisi Athletic Center for a make-up conference game. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
