Tech Ends Regular Season with Victory at CCU

Men's Soccer

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Men's soccer finished the regular season undefeated in the River States Conference after a 9-2 victory at Cincinnati Christian University Saturday evening. WVU Tech (15-1-2, 7-0-1 RSC) is now the No. 2 seed in the RSC Tournament and like No. 1 University of Rio Grande (16-1-1, 7-0-1 RSC), they will receive a bye in the first round.

The Golden Bears, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA Top 25, had the same record as Rio Grande but were edged out for the top seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs because of the second tiebreaker of goals allowed in conference games.

Tech will host the semi-final of the RSC Tournament on November 9 where the Golden Bears will face the winner of the quarter final between No. 3 Midway University and No. 6 Point Park University being played November 5.

Goal contributors in the win included seniors Saul Montealegre, who finished with a hat trick, and Daniel Ramirez, junior Francisco Neto (2), freshman Ignacio Tellechea and sophomores Murray Kinnaird and William Adarkwah.

The assists were credited to sophomores Alvaro Adan (2) and Matias Pazos (2) and freshmen Alvaro Tina, Sergio Sanchez and Tellechea.

Senior goalkeeper Hunter Moles (15-1-2) was awarded the win after 45 minutes in goal while freshman Jorge Martinez defended the net for the final 45 minutes of play.
