PHILLIPI, West Virginia -- WVU Tech wrestling opened their season at Alderson Broaddus University Tuesday evening, falling 39-9 in Phillipi, West Virginia.
At 285 lbs., junior Jason Wainwright won his bout for the Golden Bears by decision, 5-2 and garnered three points. The remaining points went to senior
Paul Gonzales in the 125 weight class after an injury default.

Louis Bernard (157) and juniors
Colton Rowe (174) and
Terry Nance II (197) wrestled hard and kept it close with their opponents, each falling by a decision within one point. Bernard took his opponent to 6-5 while Rowe and Nance both fell 3-2.
The Golden Bears will return to the mat this Saturday when they travel to University of the Cumberlands to compete in the Patriot Open.
