MONTGOMERY, West Virginia — Junior
Ryan Atkins led the team with 27 points in a 98-92 defeat for the WVU Tech men's basketball team against NCAA DII Davis & Elkins College in Tech's season opener. As part of his 27-point output, Atkins finished 6-for-7 from the bonus line while sinking three three-pointers. Atkins also pulled down four rebounds to go with four assists.

Enson Garcia (10) also hit double-digits for the Gold and Blue to round out their top offensive contributors. Arrey also dished out a team-high five assists.
On the boards, senior

Michael Scott led the team with six rebounds each.
As a team, Tech shot 36-for-81 (44.4 percent) from the field compared to their opponent's 30-for-67 (44.8 percent) effort. The Gold and Blue held advantages in rebounds (46-42) and bench points (44-14) in the loss.
The Senators shot 11-for-26 (42.3 percent) from three point range to top Tech's 8-for-31 (25.8 percent) effort from the arc.
WVU Tech will next host Wright State Lake in the Baisi Athletic Center Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
