WILMORE, Kentucky — The WVU Tech men's basketball team traveled to Asbury University Thursday for a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Association (KIAC) contest in Wilmore, Kentucky. Despite a double-double effort by sophomore
Ryan Atkins, the Eagles (14-15, 6-9 KIAC) took a 91-77 victory over the Golden Bears (15-12, 7-7 KIAC).
Atkins poured in 30 points, good for a team-best, while pulling down ten rebounds and recording two assists and steals each.
Junior
Paul Stone posted 17 points and four rebounds while fellow classmate
Matthew Kallead had nine points and senior
Eddie Gordon had eight. Sophomore
Juwuan Wilson finished the game with six points and five rebounds.
The team finished 25-for-57 (43.9 percent) from the field while Asbury went 29-for-55 (52.7 percent). Tech forced 16 turnovers while committing just 12 miscues themselves.
Trenton Thompson paced the Eagles and the game with 35 points.
The Gold and Blue will continue conference play when they host Indiana University Kokomo in the Baisi Athletic Center Tuesday, February 16 on senior night. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
