HICKORY, North Carolina — WVU Tech baseball split a doubleheader to open their 2016 campaign against Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears grabbed their first victory of the season 4-3 before falling in the final game of the day, 13-8.

Espinosa finished with a RBI and run while recording Tech's only double of the game which ended up bringing in the winning run for an eventual 4-3 score. Herrera, Suzuki and senior
Dylan Harvey batted in the other three runs.
Junior
Austin Southcott pitched 7.0 innings, giving up just five hits and one earned run while striking out five batters. Senior
Kyle Sager earned the win after 0.2 innings of work, retiring one batter. Senior
Brandon Tucker recorded the save after facing two batters and striking out one in 1.0 innings on the mound.
GAME 2 | WVU Tech 8, Lenoir-Rhyne 18The team totaled 13 hits and seven RBI after 33 at bats. Levine, Espinosa and junior
Victor Diaz led the Golden Bears with two hits each. Harvey, Levine, Espinosa and senior
Tommy Weaver all posted doubles. Lam, Diaz and Espinosa drove in two runs apiece. On the bases, Harvey marked a steal along with freshman
Anferny Ellis.
Junior
Chris Davidson was charged with the loss on the mound, scattering six hits and six earned runs while striking out two batters.
WVU Tech will finish the three-game series in Hickory, North Carolina, Sunday at 1 p.m. with one, nine-inning game.
