CINCINNATI, Ohio — WVU Tech men's basketball ended their regular season Saturday afternoon with a 91-78 loss to Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) foe Cincinnati Christian University. The Golden Bears (16-13, 8-8 KIAC) will head into the KIAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed and are set to face the Eagles (20-8, 11-5) again, who enter as the No. 2 seed in the first round.
Tech had four Golden Bears in double figures including 22 points from sophomore
Ryan Atkins for the team-high. Junior
Paul Stone poured in 16 points while pulling down eight boards. Fellow classmate
Patrick Gnagbo finished with a double-double effort of ten points and ten rebounds while senior
Eddie Gordon also posted ten points.
As a team, the Gold and Blue shot 55.0 percent (33-for-60) from the field while the Eagles had a 52.2 percent (35-for-67) shooting performance.
Kenny Gaynor paced CCU with a game-high 23 points to go with five rebounds.
Cincinnati Christian will host WVU Tech for the first round of the KIAC Tournament February 24. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
