HARTSVILLE, South Carolina — The WVU Tech (3-3) softball team started its three-game stand at the Coker Spring Tournament in Hartsville, South Carolina by downing West Virginia State University (2-3) 6-2 before defeating the University of Charleston (1-2) 2-1 Friday afternoon.

Genna Trippett had a standout game for the Golden Bears, registering her second home run this season while going 3-for-3 at the plate. Trippett also scored two runs and marked a RBI in the win. The Parkersburg, West Virginia native pitched a complete game to improve her record to 2-0 in the circle while scattering six hits and two earned runs, striking out two batters.
Tech saw a 2-for-3 effort at the plate from sophomore
Baylee Harless who also notched her first career home run, while driving in three runs. Harless also marked a stolen base in the win.
Sophomore
MaKayla Waugh and freshman
Rachel Rusch each posted a double while Waugh also drove in one run and stole her second base this season.
Game Two | WVU Tech 2, University of Charleston 1 (Box Score)Senior
Breigh Renner finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate for the Gold and Blue, recording a RBI when she brought Waugh in during the second inning.
R. Rusch produced a hit for Tech, singling to left field for a RBI that brought sophomore
MiKayla Craze across the plate in the fifth inning. Connelly finished with two hits in the night cap including a double.
In the circle, freshman
Hannah Burke (1-2) drew the start to grab her first collegiate victory. The Warren, Ohio native gave up just three hits and one earned run while striking out four Golden Eagles.
The team will end their time at the Coker Spring Tournament Saturday after they face Lees-McRae College at 11 a.m.
