Softball Splits Doubleheader with Davis & Elkins

SMITHERS, West Virginia — The WVU Tech softball team secured a doubleheader split versus Davis & Elkins College Tuesday at Terry E. Willis Field in Smithers, West Virginia by downing the Senators 10-2 (five innings) in the night cap after dropping game one 2-0. The Golden Bears' record now stands at 11-16 while the Senators move to 18-11.

The Senators defense managed a no-hitter against the Golden Bears for the 2-0 win in game one.

Senior Genna Trippett (1-3) drew the start in the circle for Tech, scattering five hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters.

Game Two | WVU Tech 10, Davis & Elkins 2 | Five Innings | Box Score

Tech posted a six-run fourth inning off of eight hits against Davis & Elkins' pitcher, Victoria Krystynak (4-5) and forced the game to finish after five innings with at 10-2 victory.

The Golden Bears saw a multi-hit game from freshman Skylar Connelly, seniors Megan Blythe, Stephanie Seewer and Genna Trippett, junior Lexi Huck and sophomore MiKayla Craze.

Blythe, Huck and sophomore Baylee Harless had two RBIs. Harless and Blythe both posted a double while Connelly, Craze and Seewer recorded a stolen base each.

Junior Mackenzie Wilson (4-5) retired five batters while giving up seven hits and two earned runs for the complete game and the win.

WVU Tech will return to play when they travel to Bluefield State College for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
