NEW ALBANY, Indiana — WVU Tech softball dropped a doubleheader to (RV) Indiana University Southeast Friday afternoon, 8-7 and 6-5. The Golden Bears are now 15-24, 4-5 (KIAC) while the Grenadiers hold a record of 28-13, 13-1 (KIAC).
Senior
Megan Blythe had a stand out day for the Gold and Blue, finishing 5-for-7 at the plate with a double, a home run, four runs scored and two RBI.

Tech found themselves behind 7-2 before a five-run sixth inning knotted the score 7-7. The teams held each other scoreless until the Grenadiers posted the winning run the bottom of the seventh for the victory.
Sophomore
MiKayla Craze joined Blythe for a multi-hit game, finishing with two hits and a RBI. Sophomore
MaKayla Waugh ended with a double and two runs scored while freshman
Skylar Connelly drove in two runs for Tech off a single to right field in the sixth inning.
Freshman
Hannah Burke (4-7) was dealt the loss after 1.2 innings of work in the circle. Burke gave up three hits and one earned run while striking out a batter. Senior
Genna Trippett threw for 4.2 innings, scattering seven hits and five earned runs while striking out two Grenadiers.
Game Two | WVU Tech 5, IU Southeast 6 | Box Score
Both teams started the game strong, ending the first inning knotted 3-3 before Tech grabbed a 4-3 lead in the third when Blythe homered to deep left-center on a 0-1 count. The Grenadiers followed that up with a three-run fourth inning that secured them the eventual 6-5 victory.
Connelly, Blythe and Trippett combined for seven of Tech's 11 hits including the home run from Blythe and a double from Trippett. Blythe accounted for three of Tech's runs scored while Trippett and Connelly crossed the plate once themselves.
Junior
Mackenzie Wilson (6-7) pitched a complete game for the loss. The Owings Mills, Maryland native struck out two Grenadiers while giving up five earned runs off of four hits.
The Gold and Blue will return to KIAC play tomorrow, Saturday when they travel to Brescia University for doubleheader action. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in Owensboro, Kentucky.
