SMITHERS, West Virginia — The WVU Tech softball team lost a pair of games to Point Park University in Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) play Saturday afternoon, 3-1 and 3-2. The Golden Bears are now 12-19, 2-4 (KIAC) while the Pioneers boost their record to 8-14, 4-2 (KIAC).

In game one, Tech's lone score came from senior Megan Blythe who knocked her second home run in as many days. Junior Mackenzie Wilson marked two RBI in the night cap after a single to center field drove in sophomore Hannah Calhoun and Blythe.

The Gold and Blue managed six hits in the loss, one each from Blythe, senior Genna Trippett, sophomores Kayla Harbin and MaKayla Waugh, junior Adriana Rosendo and freshman Rachel Rusch.

Rosendo and R. Rusch posted a double each while Blythe recorded her fifth home run this season. Blythe currently leads the team with a batting average of .417.

Wilson's 1-for-2 effort at bat plated Tech's two runs with a single in the bottom of the fourth but the Pioneer's three runs in the third inning were enough for the series sweep.

Out of seven hits, R. Rusch was the only Golden Bear to finish with a multi-hit game (2).

Calhoun marked her second career stolen base in the loss.

In the circle, Wilson scattered ten hits and three earned runs while retiring seven batters via strikes.

Tech will continue their home stand when they play host to King University Tuesday in Smithers, West Virginia. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
