LAST TOURNAMENT
  • Finished fourth out of five teams at the Shawnee State Invitational Friday after shooting a combined score of 322.
  • The invitational took place at the Elk Country Club (Par 72 | 6,681 Yards) in McDermott, Ohio.
  • KIAC foe Cincinnati Christian University won the event with a score of 314 followed by Indiana University East and host school, Shawnee State University who tied for second with a 318.
  • Tech was paced by freshman Matt Ryan who earned a spot on the all-tournament team and a fourth place finish overall as an individual with a 77 (+5).
  • The Golden Bears were also represented by freshmen Makenzie Gaskin (80), Callum Langford (82) and Drew Hiskins (88) and senior Steven Han (83).

LAST SERIES
  • Lost a pair of games to Point Park University in KIAC play 3-1 and 3-2.
  • In game one, Tech's lone score came from senior Megan Blythe who knocked her second home run in as many days.
  • Junior Mackenzie Wilson marked two RBI in the night cap after a single to center field drove in sophomore Hannah Calhoun and Blythe.
  • Game One | WVU Tech 1, Point Park 3 | Box Score
    • The Gold and Blue managed six hits in the loss, one each from Blythe, senior Genna Trippett, sophomores Kayla Harbin and MaKayla Waugh, junior Adriana Rosendo and freshman Rachel Rusch.
    • Rosendo and R. Rusch posted a double each while Blythe recorded her fifth home run this season. Blythe currently leads the team with a batting average of .417.
    • Trippett (1-4) pitched all seven innings for Tech, striking out six Pioneers while giving up six hits and just one earned run.
  • Game Two | WVU Tech 2, Point Park 3 | Box Score
    • Wilson's 1-for-2 effort at bat plated Tech's two runs with a single in the bottom of the fourth but the Pioneer's three runs in the third inning were enough for the series sweep.
    • Out of seven hits, R. Rusch was the only Golden Bear to finish with a multi-hit game (2).
    • Calhoun marked her second career stolen base in the loss.
    • In the circle, Wilson scattered ten hits and three earned runs while retiring seven batters via strikes.

LAST SERIES
  • Senior Josh Hudson, junior Tanner Levine and the Golden Bear defense held Point Park University scoreless for the last four innings as WVU Tech baseball defeated the Pioneers 5-4 in the first game of KIAC doubleheader in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • The teams totaled five hits each in the nightcap as Point Park took the victory, 3-2 after eight innings. The bonus baseball was the second time the teams went into extra innings in as many days.
  • Game One | WVU Tech 5, Point Park 4 | Box Score
    • The Gold and Blue put two on the board quick as junior Brady Groesbeck drove in senior Dylan Harvey before junior Marcus Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch in the first inning.
    • Groesbeck also posted a RBI in the second inning when he reached on a Pioneer error, plating freshman Roy Suzuki.
    • Harvey, who got on base by balls, touched the plate again in the fourth inning when junior Heath Utterback grounded out to the short stop to knot the score 4-4.
    • It was in the fifth inning that Suzuki hit a double to left field for his 14th RBI this season as senior Doug Prather, who reached by error, crossed the plate for Tech's fifth and winning run.
    • Hudson (4-2) drew the start on the bump, striking out two batters while giving up eight hits and two earned runs. Levine (0-1-2) earned his second save this season with 2.2 innings of work, two hits and one strike out.
  • Game Two | WVU Tech 2, Point Park 3 | Eight Innings | Box Score
    • Tech's two scores came early in the game as junior Trevor Lam posted his first home run this season in the second inning and Rodriguez produced a RBI off a sacrifice fly to center field in the third inning.
    • Rodriguez's effort plated senior Tommy Weaver.
    • Point Park pulled out their third series win in the bottom of the eighth inning off of two hits and a Golden Bear error when the Pioneers plated an unearned run off a single to center field.
    • Rodriguez, Levine, Prather and Weaver posted Tech's remaining four of five hits in the contest including a double each from Levine and Prather.
    • Senior Brandon Tucker (1-1) threw 1.1 innings for the loss, scattering two hits, one strike out and zero earned runs.
    • Senior Kyle Sager had the start and pitched 5.2 innings against the Pioneers.
    • Sager gave up just three hits and two earned runs while retiring one batter.
