MIDWAY, Kentucky -- WVU Tech men's basketball has earned their sixth consecutive victory after defeating Midway University in River State Conference play Saturday afternoon, 96-58. The Golden Bears boost their record to 15-5, 8-1 (RSC) while the Eagles fall to 2-17, 2-9 (RSC).
The Gold and Blue saw standout performances from junior
Ryan Atkins who was three assists from a triple-double and freshman
Will Fox who finished 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. Atkins poured in a game-high 27 points on 9-for-11 shooting to go with 12 rebounds and seven assists. Fox posted a career-high 21 points after 19 minutes of play.
Junior
Elisha Boone marked 16 points in the win while pulling down eight boards. Fellow classmates
Cole Schoolcraft was 4-for-8 from the field, finishing with ten points and
Michael Scott grabbed 11 rebounds while producing nine points.
The Eagles leading scorer, Brandon Johnson, had 13 points.
Tech's defense held the Eagles to 32.8 percent (19-for-58) shooting from the floor while forcing 14 miscues and grabbing six steals. The Golden Bears shot 53.0 percent (35-for-66) from the field and 69.2 percent (18-for-26) from the foul line.
Up next, Tech will play host to Alice Lloyd College Tuesday in the Baisi Athletic Center.
