MONTGOMERY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's basketball, who was voted No. 22 in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, is now enjoying a seven-game winning streak after defeating Alice Lloyd College in River States Conference (RSC) action Tuesday evening, 96-69. The Golden Bears are now 16-5, 9-1 (RSC) this season while the Eagles hold a record of 7-15, 3-7 (RSC).
All scorers were led by junior
Ryan Atkins who finished 9-for-13 from the field and 11-for-14 from the foul line towards his 29 points. Atkins also marked seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in the victory. The Miami, Florida native is currently No. 22 in the nation (NAIA DII) with 20.7 points per game.
Junior
Elisha Boone was one board away from a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Boone, who shot an efficient 7-for-9 from the floor, posted three assists.
Fellow classmate
Michael Scott rounds out Tech's top offensive contributors with 15 points on a 5-for-6 shooting effort while also pulling down five rebounds and recording two steals.
As a team, the Golden Bears had a standout shooting night, finishing 61.1 percent (33-for-54) from the floor and 63.9 percent (23-for-36) from the bonus line. Tech held their opponent to just 39.7 percent (23-for-58) shooting.
Alice Lloyd's Blake Smith led his team with 17 points while Chance Cornett had a team-high seven rebounds.
Up next, Tech will travel for a two-game RSC road stand when they face Cincinnati Christian University Friday before heading to Indiana University Kokomo on Saturday.
