CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- WVU Tech volleyball defeated Ohio Christian University Tuesday evening, 3-0, in River States Conference (RSC) action. The Golden Bears boost their record to 19-8, 3-5 (RSC) while the Trailblazers hold a record of 9-15, 2-6 (RSC) in 2017. Tech took the match with scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-18.
The Gold and Blue's back row defense was balanced as sophomore libero
Alice Amitrano, this week's RSC Defender of the Week, tallied a team-high 12 digs while senior
Bailey Lotozo finished with 11 and junior
Ana Monteiro had ten.
On the attack, freshman
Lauren McCall marked a match-high 13 kills to go with seven digs and a service ace. Lotozo, who recently marked her 2,000
th career-kill as a Golden Bear, posted 11 kills and a service ace.
Sophomore setter
Konstantina Pateli recorded the match's best 34 assists while also putting down five kills and serving three aces.
As a team, Tech produced 70 digs, 43 kills and eight block assists including four from sophomore
Carolina Bologna.
WVU Tech will continue RSC play as they host IU East Friday in Van Meter Gym at 6 p.m. The Golden Bears will also meet the Trailblazers again Saturday when they host them in Beckley, West Virginia at noon.
