Men's soccer battle for 3-2 victory at Point Park

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- WVU Tech men's soccer staged a second half comeback to come home with a River States Conference (RSC) victory over Point Park University Saturday evening, 3-2. The Golden Bears boost their record to 5-7-2, 4-1-1 (RSC) while the Pioneers are 10-4, 5-2 (RSC).

Point Park grabbed a quick 2-0 lead after Alan Ramos (3' and 10') scored the Pioneers' only goals of the contest. Tech's first half goal came from sophomore Jesus Naves who was assisted by fellow classmate Manuel Garcia in the 29th minute.

Garcia also posted a goal (53'), his third this season, after connecting with junior Matias Pazos. The Gold and Blue's final score came from freshman defender Cameron Glennon. The unassisted goal marks Glennon's first collegiate.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jorge Martinez (1-1) earned the win protecting goal after two saves and 90 minutes. Point Park's keeper, Ryan Daniels, was forced to make 11 saves and allowed three goals.

As a team, the Golden Bears marked 14 shots on goal compared to their opponents' four. Pazos and senior Francisco Neto led the way for Tech with three shots on frame each.

WVU Tech will return to the field tomorrow, Saturday when they host Carlow University (0-13-2, 0-5-1 RSC) for more conference action.
