BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech fell to Asbury University after double overtime, 4-3, in River States Conference (RSC) action Thursday evening. The Golden Bears are now third in the conference with a record of 5-2-1 (6-9-2 overall) while the Eagles stand at second in the RSC at 6-1-1 (10-4-1 overall).

Asbury struck first, marking a goal from Ryan Metcalf in the ninth minute. Tech answered back when freshman Manuel Segarra found the back of the net, scoring unassisted with a strike from 25 yards out.

Senior Francisco Neto then gave the Gold and Blue a 2-1 lead before heading into the second half, posting his tenth goal of the season off the assist from freshman Javaid Payne (37').

The Eagles took back the lead after unassisted scores from Sam Henderson (74') and Owen Sigey (82'), 3-2. Junior Matias Pazos then marked his third goal in 2017 for the equalizer with less than three minutes in regulation, forcing the teams to overtime.

Austin Baker of Asbury managed the golden goal in the 102nd minute to give his team the victory.

WVU Tech's goalkeeper, sophomore Jorge Martinez (2-3), made three stops in the loss while the Eagles' Brian Wood was forced to make four saves.

The Golden Bears will finish their regular season Saturday, October 28 when they host Cincinnati Christian University for Senior Day.
