BECKLEY, West Virginia -- WVU Tech men's soccer was trailing Indiana University East 1-0 after the first half in River States Conference (RSC) play before coming back for a 3-1 victory Thursday evening. The Golden Bears stay undefeated in the conference, 2-0-1, and move to 3-6-2 overall. The Red Wolves move to 5-5-1, 0-2-0 (RSC) in 2017.
The Golden Bears first goal came from sophomore
Eduardo Gutierrez who found the back of the net, unassisted, in the 59
th minute. Tech's next score came from senior
Francisco Neto who was assisted by sophomore
Jesus Naves (64').
The third and final goal of the match-up was made by sophomore
Sergio Sanchez. Sanchez now has four goals and two assists this season.
Freshman
Jose Domingo Xam-mar (3-2) now has a winning record protecting the goal for Tech after a complete game and one save against IU East.
Tech finished with 16 shots on frame including six from Gutierrez and four from Neto.
The team will look to continue this momentum as they host RSC opponent Ohio Christian University Saturday in Beckley, West Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for after the women's game at approximately 6 p.m.
